Welcome Evening

We would like to invite IDW Budapest 2017 participants for a get-together evening with some traditional beverage, music and fun.

YOU ARE ALL WELCOME! 🙂

When one part moves, the body as a whole responds. Functionally, the only tissue that can mediate such responsiveness is the connective tissue. If there is a disturbance in the flow of motion (blocked joint, injury, scar tissue, over-use…) the body’s response is to shift the structure away from the pain, some parts starts to hold more weight and becomes harder that leads to over-use and he pain you had originally is moving to an other part. In the workshop you learn the structure of the soft tissue (fascia), you learn connections of holding patterns you never thought of, you learn how to detangle the knots and you learn exercises to maintain a balanced structure.

Zsuzsa Rózsavölgyi, dancer/choreographer studied at Budapest Dance School, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. She worked with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in Rosas for 5 years. Currently she is working with Thierry De Mey, composer on his new creation. Since 2009 she creates her own work with physically demanding processes. For years she researched on how to maintain her and her dancers physical and emotional needs during creation time and prepare herself and her dancers to reach their peak performance.

Gods. Humanlike animal. Animal-like human. Godless animal. Animal-eating human made by bored gods. Man-eating gods. Cannimal. Two-thirds god and one third animal. Two-thirds god and one third man. Two-thirds human, one third animal. Semi-God, half man. God-fearing human: animal of fear. Halfman-fearing animal. Half-half animal. Half-man, half-animal. Divine bitch. Two-thirds man and one third women. Human or animal? And where are the gods?

SEAD Bodhi Project: Ubuntu

The new piece Ubuntu, a simple word meaning “I am because of who we are”, is based on an idea or philosophy from the Southern African region, and is often translated as “humanity towards others”. The dance work which is closely linked to light design and music, was newly developed during a four weeks collaboration of Sita Ostheimer with seven young dancers of BODHI PROJECT, an international repertory company situated in SEAD, Salzburg, and was premiered at the New Faces New Dances festival in February 2016 in Salzburg.

In Ubuntu the dancers are looking at their lifes, just for a moment, for a blink of an eye. Most of the time they are unsure if it is a past, present or a future life. Sometimes connecting with others, sometimes not. They try to collect moments in their memories, and look at them again and again as if looking at a photo album of ones life. Sita’s choreography brings light to these captured moments, and then they slip away in the darkness again. Expressive fluent, sensual, and earthy movements, soloists and groups appear wedded with light and darkness. The quality and rhythm of the material plays the biggest role in transmitting the meaning of Ubuntu. The dancers let go of what they know physically completely and move from an honest, instinctive point.

What makes Sita Ostheimer’s choreography so original is not only the unique language for her particular and peculiar movement language, but also the manner in which she weaves together her light, dance and music, creating an atmospheric world. This world of Ubuntu is moving, identifiable, and lures you into its embrace with its elegant and seemless montage of images.

Stabilization and the lack of stabilization. My life top a certain degree became a nomadic life. It is hard for me to stay in one place so at the same time it is difficult for me to settle. I am constantly
looking for something: for home, for love, for work, for friends, for dance, for freedom. Life is a journey and you get to decide how you will travel. Yo can travel alone or with others, you can travel to find answers, to find home or to escape home. I am in constant search for my promised land.
